What is a director ID?
A director ID is a unique identifier you apply for once and keep forever. It’s managed by Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS), which is governed by the ATO. The director ID aims to help prevent the use of fictitious director identities and create a fairer business environment by improving data integrity.
Who needs a director ID?
If you are a director of a company registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) or planning to become a director in the next 12 months, you will need a director identification number (director ID).
For a list of who needs to apply, visit the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) dedicated webpage.
